11 things your MacBook notch can do with peeq

The notch is the one part of your screen nothing else uses. Here’s everything peeq puts there, and how to use it.

1. Now Playing

Album art sits to the left of the notch and a small level moves to the right while music plays. Click to open the player: play, pause, skip, scrub, see Up Next (Apple Music) and change the volume. Works with Apple Music, Spotify, browser tabs like YouTube, and most apps that report to macOS.

2. A floating player

Drag the music card down out of the notch and it becomes a small player you can leave anywhere on screen. Drag it back up to dock it.

3. Incoming calls

FaceTime and iPhone calls (via Continuity) ring in the notch. Accept, Decline, Remind Me or reply with a message. While you talk, the call time sits next to the notch. Missed calls wait in the Activity tab.

4. Notifications and replies

Banners land in the notch. Reply to Messages and WhatsApp right there; on macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence, peeq suggests three short replies using Apple’s on-device model.

5. Timer

Open Home, pick 5, 10, 15 or 25 minutes, or drag the ruler. A ring counts down beside the notch. Swipe over it to add or take away a minute. When it’s done, a pill drops out so you won’t miss it.

6. Screenshots

Take a screenshot and its preview slides out of the notch with Copy, Save, Markup and Delete, so you can deal with it before it lands on your desktop.

7. Screen recording

Start a recording from peeq’s menu. A red dot and a running clock sit by the notch; click to stop. You can choose whether peeq itself appears in recordings.

8. File tray and AirDrop

Drag any file to the top of the screen and the notch opens into drop zones. Drop it in the tray to keep it for later, or on AirDrop to send it straight away.

9. Clipboard history

Everything you copied today, one click away in Home’s clipboard tab. Items marked private by password managers are skipped, and the list clears the next day.

10. Volume

Change the volume and a slim level appears in the notch’s wings. If you prefer, peeq can replace macOS’s own volume overlay.

11. Downloads and battery

A ring fills as a file downloads in Safari, Chrome or Firefox. Plug in your charger and a pill says so; run low and the notch gives you a heads-up.

One more: Home

When nothing is happening, click the notch. It opens Home with tabs for music, timer, activity and clipboard, and a gear for settings.
